The Story Behind elysium®
It all started with a simple question: Why carry around extra hardware when everyone in the group already has a smartphone? This idea – combined with over 20 years of experience with tour guide systems – led to the creation of elysium®. Here’s how the journey unfolded.
Milestones
After around a year of real-world experience, the AI-powered live translation is extensively enhanced – with improved context processing, pronunciation, and sentence processing, as well as 29+ target languages.
Following a six-week real-world trial on daily shore excursions, a dedicated Android Listener App is developed in just around two weeks. It improves audio stability, particularly on mobile tours, and complements the browser and Tour Guide App.
elysium® takes second place in the Baden-Württemberg Tourism Innovation Award 2026. Find out more in our blog article.
The research and development work carried out between 2021 and 2024 is recognized with the BSFZ Seal.
elysium® expands its audio transmission capabilities with AI-powered live translation. A pilot phase is carried out with nicko cruises, among others, on four river cruise ships.
The Tour Guide App receives its first major reboot, with comprehensive technical and conceptual improvements.
The original development project evolves into elysium® as an independent brand and product ecosystem.
The first version goes live on Google Play and the App Store. Audio transmission works via mobile data or Wi-Fi, independently of traditional radio frequencies.
The idea of enabling audio transmission directly via smartphones – without traditional receiver hardware – emerges from BMS Audio’s many years of experience with tour guide systems.
